Dragonflies

Art Week

This week we have been looking at the work of  Andy Goldsworthy. The children visited a local piece of woodland to collect a range of materials to add to what they had brought from home.

First we visited some local woodland.

Today we created our images. Can you spot the clock, the houses, television, the wolf, the snake, a stick man by his stick house, a tall tree, the bird's foot and many more?

Welcome to the Dragonflies page

I will be posting photos of the children and their work so that you can see what they have been learning about in class.  I will also be posting ideas on how you can help your child at home.

Key Skills

NumBots

We’re using this online resource to support your children’s maths education in Early Year, Key Stage 1 and early Key Stage 2. The creators of Times Tables Rock Stars have produced a platform for boosting addition and subtraction skills. NumBots is an online game by playing little and often your child will significantly improve recall, understanding of number bonds, addition and subtraction facts. These are critical foundations in maths so we are excited by the impact NumBots will have.

TTRockstars

Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice which children complete in a fun and engaging way online. Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised every third week or so.

Active Learn (Bug Club)

Our school has access to a reading programme called Bug Club.  We hope that you and your child will love these books and enjoy reading them at home. Bug Club is a finely-levelled reading scheme, which ensures that all children can find books at exactly the right level for them. What’s more, there are online versions for every printed title and a personalised website for each child.  We allocate books to your child according to their reading levels. These books will appear in the ‘My Stuff’ area of their personal homepages.

Mathletics

Mathletics brings classroom practice into the home. Aligned to our curriculum, Mathletics activities are relevant, they will reinforce lessons learned in school, and help your children gain mastery over maths topics or challenge themselves to develop greater understanding.

Readiwriter Spelling

We are using Readiwriter for spelling resources.  To use Readiwriter you need your Mathletics user name and password.  You can also switch between Mathletics and Readiwriter!   Don’t get confused and start counting the letters!!

Week Five Here are the spellings and multiplication facts for this week. I have also included the nonsense poems we will be looking at this week.

Today we made banana splits using the recipes we have written as part of our literacy learning. Yum!

Last week we thought about kindness. We also wore odd socks to remind us that we need to be kind to each other.

Week 4 Spellings

The spellings posted last week titled Week 3 spellings are the ones that the children will be looking at this week. I managed to get ahead of myself.frown

Kindness Week

One of the suggested activities to mark Kindness Week is to wear odd socks. Please allow your child to wear odd socks on Tuesday. We will take photographs [lower legs and feet only] and I will post them on the class page. The more 'interesting' the socks the better.
